Bill Hicks

Member – Local College Board

In his new role as Deputy Director of Place, Canterbury City Council, Bill will oversee Engineering, Museums, Leisure and External Development, Planning and Environmental Health, Regeneration and Property and Transport and Environment at Canterbury City Council.


Bill previously worked at Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) since 2014 in various roles including communications, stakeholder engagement, digital connectivity and, since 2018, as Head of Infrastructure where he managed the LEP’s investments in excess of £170m.

Before working at the LEP, he was a senior international marketing executive with extensive commercial experience within the media, entertainment and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors.


His most recent corporate work experience was with global media company NBC Universal.

Married with two grown-up children, Bill’s connections with the Canterbury area go back a long way.


He is a former student of the University of Kent, his youngest daughter finished her degree here last summer and he has several friends who live in the area.
